Token Efficiency
Stop paying agents to rediscover your warehouse
Without a context layer, every agent question funds an expedition — exploring tables, reading schema, retrying joins, billed again on every task. Shanc serves prebuilt definitions instead: the same questions answered with 100x fewer tokens, and more accurately.
- 100x fewer tokens per answered question
- Definitions computed once, reused across every question and agent
- Each query retrieves exactly the definitions it needs — no schema dumps
How it works
No exploration loop
The expensive part is already done
An agent on raw schema reasons its way to understanding: list tables, sample data, guess a join, check, retry. Each step is an inference call carrying the full history. Shanc hands the agent finished definitions instead — the loop that burns most of the tokens never runs.
Small payloads
Only what the question needs
A question about churn retrieves the churn definition and its dependencies — a few hundred tokens of exact business logic, in place of thousands of tokens of schema and tool definitions loaded on spec. Small, precise context is also what models reason best over.
Computed once, served always
One layer, every agent, no re-derivation
The understanding lives in the layer, built once and kept there. Ten agents asking a hundred questions draw from the same definitions — you pay for the layer’s context once per answer, not for rebuilding the same knowledge in every context window.
Tokens are getting cheaper. Agent bills aren’t.
Gartner predicts inference costs per agentic workflow will rise more than fivefold through 2028 — while token prices fall by 90% or more. Cheaper tokens lose to how many of them agents consume. (Gartner, 2026)
Agentic tasks burn 5 to 30 times the tokens of a standard chatbot query, as agents reason, call tools, verify and retry. Every step drags the accumulated context back through the model. (Gartner, March 2026)
An audit across 30 production engineering teams found that re-sending accumulated context accounted for 62% of the total inference bill — paying for the same tokens on turn one, turn six and turn twenty. (2026 production audit)
The cheapest token is the one your agent never needed to spend.
