Website Terms of Use
1. About these Terms
These Website Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of shanc.ai, including its public pages and any related websites operated by us that link to these Terms (together, the “Website”).
By accessing or using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, you should not use the Website.
These Terms apply only to the Website. They do not govern access to or use of the Shanc product, platform, APIs or other paid or private services. Those services are governed by the relevant customer agreement, order form, data processing agreement or other agreement entered into with Shanc.
Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy also apply when you use the Website.
2. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Website, our business or applicable law.
When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Where appropriate, we may also provide a notice on the Website.
Your continued use of the Website after updated Terms take effect means that you agree to the updated Terms.
3. Permitted use of the Website
You may access and use the Website for lawful personal, informational and business-evaluation purposes.
You may:
- view and read content published on the Website;
- link to publicly available pages;

You must comply with all applicable laws when using the Website.
No rights are granted to you other than those expressly set out in these Terms.
4. Intellectual property
The Website and all content made available through it—including text, graphics, interfaces, designs, illustrations, logos, trademarks, photographs, videos, software and code—are owned by or licensed to Shanc and are protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws.
“Shanc”, the Shanc logo and any related names, branding or product names are trademarks or trade names of Shanc. You may not use them without our prior written permission.
Unless we expressly permit it in writing, you may not:
- reproduce or republish substantial parts of the Website;
- modify, adapt, translate or create derivative works from Website content;
- sell, license or commercially exploit Website content;
- remove copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices;
- use Website content in a way that suggests an endorsement, partnership or affiliation with Shanc;
- frame, mirror or reproduce the Website on another website or service;
- extract Website content to create or improve a competing product or service; or
- use Website content to train, fine-tune, evaluate or develop an artificial intelligence or machine-learning system.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of the Website or its content to you.
5. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- use the Website unlawfully, fraudulently or for an unauthorised purpose;
- interfere with the security, availability, performance or normal operation of the Website;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, its infrastructure, connected systems or data;
- introduce viruses, malware, harmful code or other material intended to damage or disrupt systems;
- bypass access controls, rate limits or technical restrictions;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble code made available through the Website, except where applicable law expressly permits this;
- scrape, crawl or systematically extract Website content using automated tools without our written permission;
- use the Website to send spam or unsolicited communications;
- impersonate another person or organisation;
- misrepresent your relationship with Shanc;
- use the Website in a way that infringes another person’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights; or
- place an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our infrastructure.
We may take reasonable technical or legal measures to prevent or respond to prohibited conduct.
6. Demo requests and communications
When you request a demo, join a waiting list, subscribe to updates, complete a form or otherwise contact us, you may provide information such as your name, work email address, company details and a description of your intended use case.
We may use that information to:
- respond to your request;
- prepare for and tailor our communications with you;
- assess whether Shanc may be suitable for your organisation;
- arrange a demo or follow-up conversation; and
- manage our business relationship with you.
We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Please do not submit confidential information, personal data relating to other people, production credentials, database contents or other sensitive information through a public Website form unless we have specifically agreed that you may do so.
Submitting a form or requesting a demo does not create a customer relationship, oblige us to provide the Shanc product, or guarantee that we will enter into an agreement with you.
7. Feedback
You may choose to send us suggestions, ideas or feedback about the Website or Shanc.
Unless we agree otherwise in writing, feedback is not treated as confidential. You grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, sublicensable and royalty-free right to use, reproduce, modify and incorporate that feedback into our products, services and business.
This clause does not give us ownership of your confidential information, customer data or other materials provided under a separate customer agreement.
8. Website content and no reliance
The Website and its content are provided for general informational and business-evaluation purposes.
Website content does not constitute legal, financial, accounting, security, data-governance or other professional advice. You should obtain appropriate professional advice before acting or relying on information published on the Website.
Descriptions of Shanc’s features, integrations, capabilities and planned functionality may change as the product develops.
Examples, demonstrations, case studies, performance figures, forecasts and potential outcomes may depend on the customer, data, implementation and operating environment. They do not guarantee that you will achieve the same or similar results.
You are responsible for evaluating whether any information or proposed use of Shanc is suitable for your organisation.
9. Website availability
We aim to keep the Website accurate and available, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or free from errors.
We may change, suspend, restrict or withdraw any part of the Website without notice. We may also update, remove or correct Website content at any time.
You are responsible for configuring your systems, devices and software to access the Website safely and for using appropriate security and virus-protection measures.
10. Third-party services and links
The Website may include links to websites, services or resources operated by third parties.
These links are provided for convenience and information only. We do not control or endorse third-party websites and are not responsible for their availability, security, content, products, services or privacy practices.
Your use of a third-party website or service is governed by the terms and policies of that third party.
A third party may link to a public page of the Website, provided that the link:
- is lawful and fair;
- does not damage our reputation;
- does not falsely suggest endorsement, approval, partnership or affiliation; and
- does not display the Website inside a frame or otherwise obscure Shanc branding.
We may ask you to remove a link where we reasonably believe it breaches these requirements.
11. Privacy and cookies
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal information relating to Website visitors and people who contact us.
Our Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies and how you can manage your preferences.
These policies form part of the information governing your use of the Website, but they do not expand the licence granted to you under these Terms.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The Website is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the extent permitted by law, we do not give any express or implied warranty that:
- the Website or its content will be accurate, complete or current;
- the Website will always be available or uninterrupted;
- the Website will be secure or free from bugs, viruses or harmful components;
- Website content will be suitable for a particular purpose; or
- information presented on the Website will produce any particular business, technical or commercial outcome.
Nothing in these Terms affects any warranty or right that cannot legally be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
- any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Subject to the paragraph above, Shanc and its directors, employees, contractors and agents will not be liable for:
- indirect or consequential loss;
- loss of profits, revenue, business, contracts or anticipated savings;
- loss of goodwill, reputation or business opportunity;
- loss, corruption or unauthorised disclosure of data; or
- loss arising from your reliance on Website content.
Where you use the Website for business purposes, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Website or these Terms will not exceed £100.
The exclusions and limit in this section apply whether the claim arises in contract, tort—including negligence—breach of statutory duty or otherwise.
If you use the Website as a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
14. Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Website where we reasonably believe that:
- you have breached these Terms;
- your use creates a security, legal or operational risk;
- your use may harm Shanc, another person or the Website; or
- suspension is necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
Clauses that by their nature should continue after termination—including clauses relating to intellectual property, feedback, disclaimers, liability and governing law—will continue to apply.
15. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you use the Website for business purposes, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Website or these Terms.
If you are a consumer, you may have the right to bring proceedings in another part of the United Kingdom or in the country where you live. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory rights you have under applicable law.
16. General
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us concerning your use of the Website.
They do not replace or amend a customer agreement, order form, data processing agreement, non-disclosure agreement or other written agreement entered into separately with Shanc.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect. The affected provision will be treated as modified only to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
A delay or failure by us to enforce a provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.
You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations as part of a reorganisation, financing, sale of assets, merger or transfer of our business.
Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment relationship or agency relationship between you and Shanc.
A person who is not a party to these Terms has no right to enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
